Leadership

Presbyterian churches are led by men and women who are called and ordained to special functions in the church. These positions are Deacons, Elders, and Ministers of the Word and Sacrament. Both men and woman are eligible to serve and are called to use the gifts given to them by God.

Deacons function as the caregivers of the congregation. They care for the needs within the congregation as well as the needs of others.

Elders make up the government of the church. Session (made up of elected elders and ministers of the Word and Sacrament) makes the formal decisions on behalf of the congregation.

The Minister of Word and Sacrament (also now referred to as Teaching Elder) is the pastor of the congregation. The pastor is responsible for leading worship, caring for the people, and administering the sacraments (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper).

PASTOR
Reverend Mike Wilson comes to Prineville Presbyterian following a sales career, and prior to that in news-radio. After many years in a variety of volunteer church leadership roles, Mike felt God calling him out of the pew and into the pulpit. He earned his Master of Divinity in 2013 from San Francisco Theological Seminary. He and his wife Kathleen arrived in Prineville at the beginning of 2014 and have quickly became a part of this community. Mike and Kathleen have raised 3 daughters and also a guardian granddaughter.

Our deacons also have a prayer chain which communicates prayer needs to those who are dedicated to praying for those on our prayer chain. If you have a prayer request, please e-mail your request to prinevillepc@gmail.com.
